There are two remedial methods of termite protection outlined by Australian Standards, (AS3660.)
Chemical Barriers or Reticulation.
Chemical Barriers can only be performed by professional Termite Technicians, and cost around $2500-$3000 average. The chemical barrier involves treatment of soil around the footings and slab or post base with a recommended termiticide. This process is active 24hrs per day for up to 10 years*, and requires no other maintenance other than your annual termite inspection.
*Up to 10 Years - Depending on the termiticide used.
Termite Baits, and Termite Baiting programs.
Baiting programs are designed to intercept termites prior to entering your property. Monthly bait inspections and treatment upon discovery of feeding termites is the key to this method. The termiticide used to treat the feeding termites is then passed back to the nest, eradicating the colony via the transfer effect.
At Termicure, we agree that Chemical Barriers are an EXCELLENT method of protecting your property from termite infestation, however, the initial outlay may be financially out of reach, at least in the short term.
Some properties are not suitable for a chemical barrier.
Large amounts of soil, or retaining walls against a house may be too expensive to treat effectively, in which case the Termicure Baiting System is an ideal solution.
At Termicure, we won't push someone into buying our product unless we believe they have the knowledge to make the best decision to protect their property from Termites.
